These are just some of the famous names that have left their mark on France. Sample our gastronomic specialities. Enjoy... A trip on the river? A saunter into history?
A closer look at nature?

Burgundy invites you to take an exceptional journey in time, following the traces of Vercingetorix, the Golden Fleece, and the great Dukes of the West.

The Burgundians are a most hospitable people.

There are 4 administrative departments:
Côte d'Or (21): The préfecture is Dijon
Nièvre (58): The préfecture is Nevers
Saône et Loire (71): The préfecture is Mâcon
Yonne (89): The préfecture is Auxerre
The capital of the region is DIJON

The North of Burgundy (Sens) is 100 km to the South-East of Paris, while the South of Burgundy (Mâcon) is just 75 km away from Lyon.

WEATHER

Burgundy is dominated by the variations of western weather that characterise the whole of Western Europe.

In winter, there are frequent spells of fine, cold weather. In the summer, it is hot with a few welcome showers. Autumn (grape harvest time) is generally a pleasant, & sunny season. Probably one of our most beautiful times, where the colours of nature blend harmoniously with the gentle blue of the sky.
