If you are an owner of a GPS system or other speedtrap warning device that does not have laser detection and you want to be informed about a laser signal then this is one device you should consider.

The Blackspot Interactive Laser Alert is a stand alone laser detector for your car. It warns you about laser signals from laser speedtraps such as the safety camera vans you see all over the place.

In the box is the main Laser Alert unit, windscreen bracket with rubber suckers, dash mount, power cable and instructions, although using the unit is rather simply,e as it has no control buttons, not even an on/off switch.

The Laser Alert unit has two extra sockets on the side, one for an extra laser detector if needed and an ear phone socket.

Warning Modes are simple. When picking up a signal from the front of the car, the FRONT RED LED will stay on and Rear and Aux red LED's will flash alternately. From the rear the REAR RED LED will stay on and Front and Aux red LED's will flash alternately.

The Laser Alert has the following features, Front & rear laser detection , Directional ultra bright LED alerts , No false alarms , Range up to 2km , Magnetic quick release mounting for dash and/or windscreen , Fully portable, powers off cigarette lighter socket.

In use how did we find it. On our test road we got over 2000ft warnings without fail. Laser warnings can be a bit misleading though. When the test car was in front of all the other cars the warning almost told you that you may have just been nicked. When the test car was in a group of vehicles the driver had time to slow down. Used in the right way you should get good enough warnings to be able to slow down in time.

Overall the Laser Alert is a welcome addition to any system that does not have laser detection built in and its the best way to deal with laser operated safety camera vans without going down the route of a Laser Jammer which are now getting some bad press and police attention.

What do we like. What don't we like.
  • Easy to use.
  • Size.
  • Good choice of mounts.
  • Bright LED's and loud volume
  • Not much

Can we recommend it, No

Laser Detection just does not provide enough warning.
