Sopwith 11/2 Strutter
| A comparison of two kits here. The CDL one in
the Russian markings is the modern Roden kit. The PC10/CDL RFC machine is
made from the old limited - run Merlin kit. Both are injection - moulded,
but what a difference a few years makes. The Roden kit captures the
delicacy, and the Merlin kit captures the clumsiness of the design.
Seriously, the Merlin kit must weigh twice as much as the Roden kit, despite being sanded very heavily by yours truly before being assembled. It reminds me of the difference between '50s and '60s vinyl albums and their descendants we bought in the '80s. 'course I suppose the Roden kit would be more like a CD. |
