R.A.F. RE8

This is the Airfix kit, enhanced with a little more scratchbuilt detail, mainly around the gun ring, but some interior detail was added from styrene sheet and stretched sprue. Weathering of the grey paint on the engine panels was achieved by scratching back to an aluminium undercoat.
Reference material for this project was limited to a few photo's from the Duxford Air Museum, of their static RE8.

It now seems I should have done a bit more research, as the wing outlines are not accurate.

Still, I was quite pleased with this one, particularly when I put it next to one I'd built straight out of the box some years earlier! It's nice to see that my building skills are improving -if very slowly.
