Message:  We want to congratulate you on the way your little dogs looked
and the ones in the enclosure were so friendly. Our son is
allergic to animals and it was a treat for him to look at the
dogs and see them racing. My wife bet on the ginger one and it
won. It meant me treating her to a big meal. Downside or what.
Good beer money down the plughole. It was worth it for the
happiness in my sons face, and my wifes, OK on mine too.
 cheers.

Message:  Coming from a Naval background, I took my family to the
excellent Sultan Show which in my opinion is the best run in
the UK. We were pleasantly surprised to find your fine terrier
racing living up to the same standards. It was marvellous,
clean entertainment I had no worries allowing my family to
view. It was presented professionally with no smut. Something
usually only seen in military circles when children are
 present. Top marks.

ounce of food grown was important to the war effort and waste
was a sin, especially waste to vermin. We had a laugh, battle

down poison or employ a cat to kill them. Terriers on a farm
killing rats and rabbits or the hunt removing old or sick foxes
is just a larger scale variation of what I would do to protect
my home. So we are all similarly minded are we not. We will
never think of you in the country and us as seperate species
again. We will look at the countryside with a different
viewpoint. We promise you that. Thank you for letting my
daughter handle one of the terriers. It made her day.
Hope to see you next year. My daughter has asked if she can
have a photo next year of the dog that disappeared up the tube.

terrier racing at Lulworth countryside show. We were anti
country pursuits as they inevitably include killing. After
watching the racing and seeing how much the dogs enjoyed
themselves and speaking to you on Saturday, we began to
understand the sense of the countryside. The remark that went
home was when you said about rats and if they were not
controlled in rural areas by the likes of your terriers and
thousands like them, rats would spill over into towns and
cities even more than they do now. What a sobering thought. We

Message:  Here's a poem I wrote recently about my JRT pup Belle.

 'BELLE'

I’m only nine weeks old you know,
 And very, very petite,
I’m mostly white, with two brown spots,
And sharp claws upon my feet.
The stairs I found a problem,
 But soon mastered this,
Going up is now quite easy,
Going down, - it’s hit or miss!
I’m told off - yes, quite often,
But, what is a pup to do,
I only want to play and run,
And chew and chew and chew!
 The Boss points her finger,
And tells me no, no, no
I think that she is playing,
 And chew her finger so!
All in all, it’s quite good here,
 Although I get confused,
One minute I’m told “ good girl”
 Next minute She’s not amused.
The first lesson was to learn my name,
 Well that was easy stuff,
Now she wants me potty trained,
 Well I think enough’s enough!!
She puts paper all around the floor,
 Expecting me to wee,
And if I miss the paper,
I’m grabbed up, and out we flee.
That puts me right off my stroke,
 I’m sure you understand,
I just, can’t get it though my head,
I need to wee outside on land.
Dins dins is the best word,
That I have learnt of late,
 I’m never too busy playing,
 To forfeit this wonderful date.
 When I’ve finished eating ,
 My belly grows so large,
I waddle across the kitchen floor,
I feel like a huge barge.
Of course, once it goes in one end,
It’s soon time for it to reappear.
And if I miss the paper again,
Away from my Boss, I’ll steer!

You are welcome to put it on your web page.

following week. That moment brought memories back. Cheerful

Message:  We went to Crufts on Friday and enjoyed ourselves but we agree
with the person who left a message on the same theme. Terriers
were not in evidence at all for people to watch in the special
events ring. Just labs and collies and german shepherds and
odds and sods. Two displays were similar to the competitions
but minus the excitement. What point? The duck herding was the
only different show and very good it was too but no terriers.
The only place to see terriers was Discover Dogs and when we
went to have a look at 3pm some had gone home. Very
disappointing. So much for seeing terriers.
We asked at the ringside about whether the Tricky Tykes were
here and some person in uniform answered tersely that she
didn't know where you were and she was fed up with telling
people that. They should be pleased that the public show

Message:  We enjoy Crufts very much and we are involved in terriers in a
fairly big way. We are well known breeders of a certain terrier
breed and have been breeding for 35 years. Why is it that
labradors, collies, GSD's and the like are so well represented
by displays at Crufts but the vastly popular terrier is not.
There was no terrier racing at Crufts this year. Why ever not?
You might as well call Crufts the Lab, Collie and GSD Show as
far as this year's entertainment goes. It's a pity. Your
terrier racing showed the public with proper handling and
training, the terrier is a super little fellow who ranks
alongside any collie, labrador or GSD as a family member. We
feel strongly that terriers are being put on the back shelf by
Crufts. If the public can't see them in high profile action
having fun, they will only see them as killers in the field.
All dogs are killers so come on, give terriers a chance.

but we were terribly disappointed. It is such a popular and
lighthearted show so why wasn't it on? Almost every show in the
special events ring was competitive and earnest. We need some
fun to remind us of what our relationship with dogs is at the
end of the day. We were relaxing in the special events area
from about 2 until 4 and in the space of about an hour and a
half there were 2 very similar shows on. One was good the other
was to be frank, not very. Why have 2 so similar and no terrier
racing? I run an obedience club and know the problems
associated with correct training. I dislike watching dogs doing
circus tricks as it is demeaning to the canine world. Your show
is naturally amusing. People don't realise how diffiult it is

Regular visitors will be aware that it is not our policy to
respond to messages via the guestbook, neither do we delete
messages. in this case a response is necessary to clarify a
case of mistaken identity. Because we are the biggest and most
well known Terrier Racing Team & have a high profile, many
people tend to think when that when they've seen terrier racing
it must be us. As with other types of displays we are not the
only ones - we are just the most famous one. Copied but not
 bettered.
We were indeed at the Portsmouth & Southsea Show as we have
been for many years,& will be there again next year. We were
also at the Showman's Show but WERE NOT inside the circus
tent. However, a smaller terrier racing display, not connected
with us, was present inside the tent. Our usual Exhibition
Unit was prominently placed between the Main Arena & the circus
tent and our unit was visited by many people keen to book the
TYKES for future shows. We can assure interested persons that
our usual high standards, our 45/50 dogs & our Exhibition
Unit/Visitor Centre will continue to be at shows all over the
UK just as they always have been. We are sorry Mr & Mrs Harris

We saw you at the Portsmouth Show in August and were

commentary and the variety of dogs. We visited the Showmans
Show in Newbury and you may remember we spoke to your
representative from the East of England in the circus tent
with the intention of booking you for our company fiesta in May
next year. We were somewhat taken aback to see the display was
nothing like you presented at Portsmouth. We assumed you would
have the 50 dogs racing yet you said at the Showmans Show you
bring 8 or 10. 10 terriers is hardly enough to keep an
intelligent audience interested and you don't appear to have
the big unit anymore. Not good value for money and rather
disappointing. It could be an idea to change your website to

Message:  We loved the demonstration enormously. We decided to try it
ourselves. The result was fights fights fights and fights.
One poor dog ended up at the vets with a ripped tail. We tried
again the following week and couldn't keep the rag on the
string, the string was pulled off by the dogs, one got tangled
in it and it garroted his leg. It was pulled so tight we had to
get the vet to get it off while the poor dog was sedated. Oh
 yes and more fights.
So we have abandoned that idea. How do you do it? How do you
train them to be so excited yet they don't try and murder each
 other.
What a great show. All that excitement and no injuries. You
 deserve a medal.

We did not intend to watch as we had seen terrier racing last
summer at our local show. It was badly presented by a man
calling himself Cyril Squirrell and the dogs were unruly and a
little cowed. The commentary and content was terrible and the
dogs were few. We were walking past the ring at Crufts and
could not help hearing the cheering crowds. We were
transfixed. We watched 6 or 7 scottish terriers enjoying
their occupation. The commentary was clear and exciting but
with correct diction and the dogs were perky. Excellent show

enjoying themselves. We saw the pure joy and humour in the
