Perhaps you could include the full size video as an option
as it doesn't take too long to download.
I come back to the site time and again for inspiration for
my own layout which is based in the SW.

impressed me at the recent Shoeburyness Model Exhibition.
Your operators made both myself and my younge daughter very
welcome and were a credit to the layout. I from the area
modeled although now living in Essex but it was brilliant
to see all the Westcountry pacifics and T9's in such a
beautiful setting. I am curently in the process of
completing a model based losely on ILFRACOMBE although
slightly smaller at a mere 15 feet and would love to stay
in contact with like minded people with a similar interest
in the Southern Railway. Now if only I can convince the wife
about an extension up to about 50 feet......

loved it - attention to detail and cameos are excellent.
I have a question - were WC rebuilts too late for the era
of Penhallick, or did they not get that far west?
 Best wishes.

You guys have created an excellent layout with superb
detail in all respects. I only wish I could see it. Perhaps
one day. I look back on my trips via the ACE in the mid /
late '50's and have to congratulate you on your capture of
a West Country scene that was so much a joint Southern /
Western operating arrangement. Your website is very well
organised and does you and your layout proud. Both Chris
and I and are very pleased and proud of your
 accomplishments and awards.

An incredably impressive layout that must provide the
architects fantastic satisfaction. Easily the best I have
witnessed and with the added benefit of the wonderful web
site I now have the opportunity of study points of detail
that I sadly missed at your exhibition at Woking.

Congratulations to Mel, Jerry and Mike, I very much look
forward to seeing your fine work at first hand at one of
 your forthcoming shows.

Its very good - great attention to detail. However, one
 little thing did grate-
you've got two trailers in goods yard from mechanical horse.
Unfortunately, they're nose in to the fence! How did the
tractors get off? Please turn them around!

Note from webmaster - they have been turned round on the
 photos page.

As many guests have already said this layout is an
inspiration. Have seen it several times at various
exhibitions and always notice something new.

Your website is also very well laid out which is always a
bonus. One thing I would like to see added would be the
construction methods and tips for the baseboards, scenary
and buildings. I'm sure other modellers could learn much
 from your efforts.

Thanks again for a little piece of history brought to life.

Hi from across the pond! I saw your layout in the issue of
BRM and would like to say congratulations on a job well
done. I am building a layout representing a fictitious
branch of the Withered Arm too, as I am interested in both
the Southern and Western Regions and love Bulleid Pacifics,
the article has prompted me to get stuck back into it again.
As you can imagine it is a lot harder to acquire British
information over here and I was wondering what formations
the coach sets are in on the layout. Any help would be much
appreciated. Once again, well done! Rick.

I saw your layout at Ally pally 2005 and have the August
2005 BR modelling magazine.Just the sort of layout that
inspires others to do better. There are great advantages now
in that the majority of the stock required are, or will be
available off the shelf. Well done in creating a little of
 the withered arm atmosphere.

Being ancient this brought back vivid memories of T9's and
N's at Halwill Junction and Padstow in my youth having
travelled from Waterloo on one of the portions of the ACE.
What dedication to get it right. Pity it always seemed to be
raining when I was there. The whole scene makes 171s on the
Uckfield line rather pathetic tho they are a sight more
comfortable. An evocative and brilliant capture of the
withered arm - VERY well done.

I have discovered your layout through buying the
 British Railway Modelling August edition.
Having spent my childhood holidays in the area your layout
 captures "The Withered Arm"
perfectly and you can smell the Atlantic breezes and feel

 Congratulations on a magnificent layout.

What a wonderful piece of work you have produced!! I just
 love it all.
Can anyone tell me how to get in touch with Emdedded control
 please?
We (Durham British Model Railway Club)are currently building
 our second layout
bigger and more controllable than the last one featured in
 BRM a few years ago.
We want to have fully working semaphore and color light
 signals on the layout
hence the need to contact this company.
Please let me know if you can help.

Your layout looks outstanding! Can't wait to see it at

mainly SR with the odd WR service. We seem to be on the same

Read your review today in BRM, what a lovely layout, I wish

A couple of minor comment, I think it would be better to

could some pictures on your web site,

after seeing this in BRM, and now on this excellent web site
it makes me want to get on with my modle railway. You have
caught the spirit of a Cornish branch line, you have not
squeezed to much into it. I will try and certainly get to
Crawley in March 06. This is a credit to model railways,
 well done.

I am slightly biased as I was the person responsible for
Penhallick appearing at the 2003 Wadebridge Model Railway
Exhibition. However, in my opinion it is one of the finest
layouts I have seen - the landscaping is superb, the stock
varied and accurate for the line but most of all the feeling
of spaciousness. Far too many layouts spoil things by
cramming as much track as they can into a given area -
Penhallick does not fall into this trap!
